A Special Christmas Story - Mixie, The Female Reindeer

MIXIE
The Female Reindeer
"A Special Christmas Story"

An original Christmas story for children of all ages!
by Royce A Ratterman and daughter, Tricia, ©  1994

Once upon a time . . . or there abouts . . .
there was a reindeer named Mixie

She lived at the South Pole where it is very, very cold!

Mixie had searched for a quiet place to live in peace all of her reindeer life.

She was different from other reindeer because she could hear all the high frequency radio and television airwaves. These sounds, which nobody else can hear unless they have their TV or radio on, always entered her thoughts both day and night.

Mixie had lived almost everywhere on Earth trying to escape the sounds in her mind and consequently, came to understand every language in the world!

One December night while Mixie was walking on a snow bank at the South Pole, she glanced up into the night sky and noticed a bright, shining red light.

Being the curious little lady she was she decided to fly up and see what it was - everyone knows that all reindeer can fly!

When she was high above the clouds she discovered that the red light was the nose of another reindeer named Rudolph.

He was leading eight other reindeer which pulled a sleigh full of Christmas toys.

Sitting with the toys was a very jolly fat man with a long white beard dressed in a red suit. His name was Santa Claus.

Just at that moment those annoying sound waves, which no one else can hear, filled Mixie's head again.

They were saying that a meteor was heading right toward Santa's sleigh and if any aircraft were in the area to please save Santa and his reindeer!

Mixie warned Rudolph and Santa just in time for them to guide the sleigh full of toys to safety.

Santa was so thankful, not to mention all the children in the whole world waiting for their Christmas toys, that he asked Mixie to be part of his team of reindeer and fly next to Rudolph.

Santa said he'd been looking for another reindeer and knew that her special hearing ability would keep the skies around the world safer for everyone at Christmas time.

Mixie was so happy to live at the North Pole with Santa's happy family of toy makers.

The skies are safer and brighter now during Christmas. They get even brighter when Mixie winks at Rudolph and he blushes bright, glowing red all over - not just his nose!

~ THE END ~
