Some Norwegian Trivia . . .

Queen Sonja of Norway also celebrated her birthday today.

Sonja was born in Oslo on 4 July 1937 as the daughter of wood merchant Karl August Haraldsen (1889-1959) and Dagny Ulrichsen (1898-1994) and grew up in the district of Vinderen in Oslo.
She and Crown Prince Harald were wed on 29 August 1968, at Oslo Domkirke. Sonja came from non-royal status/bloodlines.
Crown Prince Harald became Norway's King Harald V on 21 January 1991 after the death of his father, King Olav V, on 17 January 1991.

Both the current king's father and grandfather had married their first cousins.
Father: King Olav V of Norway wed his first cousin, Princess Märtha of Sweden.
Grandfather: Prince Carl of Denmark (Haakon VII of Norway) married his first cousin Princess Maud of Wales.
