The Skies Weep in Norway

By Royce Ratterman ©

The Skies Weep in Norway . . . as the rains fall gently down.

"During the afternoon of Friday, July 22, a suspected vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) exploded outside the Norwegian Prime Minister’s office, located in the center of downtown Oslo. The Oil and Energy Ministry building, located across the street from the PM’s office, was also damaged by the explosion." (OSAC)
A second unconfirmed explosion was reported.

On the island of Utøya, a youth political rally (Utøya is owned by the political youth party Workers' Youth League) was underway when a man dressed as a police officer gathered people together to presumably inform them of the bombing(s) in Oslo. He then proceeded to open fire on them with an automatic rifle.

The area of the bombing is where I walked daily as I made my way to my job with Diplomatic Security at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo. Many times in the early morning I observed vans delivering items at the front of that building - well past the sidewalk and courtyard area.

When the U.S. Embassy completed its large fence project, comments came that we were more secure than even the Prime Minister’s office - in peaceful Norway - there was a reason for that.

The suspect, Anders Behring Breivik, who purchased 6 tons of fertilizer recently, sits in custody as Norwegian officials search for a possible/probable second accomplice.

His postings have been roughly translated into english HERE. Norwegian HERE.

To: Anders Behring Breivik's 1516 page Manifesto - "2083 - A European Declaration od Independence"
NOTE: Anders Behring Breivik called himself "Andrew Berwick" in english.

With 93 confirmed dead  in both attacks and 5 youths still missing our hearts go out to the friends and families of the victims.

I Lost My Friend

My friend passed through,
Death's dark, cold door.
I loved my friend,
Who was no more.

Those times together,
Remembered well.
Our heart's full depths,
Life's experiences to tell.

Your home, your family,
You shared with me,
Quiet, peaceful times,
To rest ... care-free.

My heart's deep sadness,
I'd lost my friend,
Gone . . . beyond,
Beyond Life's end.

Your loved one's anguish,
Their sorrow, their pain,
It crushed my soul,
Tears fell like rain.

The grief was all that I could bear,
We were such friends - the two of us.
I bid them, 'Roll the stone away.'
'Come forth! Come Forth! O' Lazarus!'

It's awful. My heart goes out to Norway and her citizens.

My heart goes out to all those in Norway. Tragic beyond belief. Glad you and your family are safe.
